Switcherrrrrroom!

I have been meaning to share this living room switcheroo with you all for the past week or so, but I mistakenly erased all the photos on my camera!!
Don't you hate when that happens?!?
Thanks goodness most of the photos had previously been saved to my computer!  However the photos I took of my living room right before the transformation were lost forever......insert sad face here!  I knew I had taken one several months back and have been searching all my files to find this one image so you all could get a better idea of the changes made!

Part of my living room redo plan has been to find, buy or DIY a TV stand or media unit.  I wasn't really sure what I wanted but did find one or two on Overstock.com that may have worked.  So my original plan was to purchase a white one that would go with the look and feel of the rest of the room.   However, the more I thought about that I wasn't really sold on the idea.  Our place is so small and the area I wanted to place the tv would seem a bit choppy to me if I added another piece of furniture!  Even if it was white and blended well with the rest of the room!
Watching tv one night it just hit me!  The Ikea Expedite Bookcases I had flanking my patio doors was going to be my solution, and I wouldn't even need to purchase another piece of furniture!
So here is a little idea of the room's layout!

Actually this is basically our apartment layout!
I told you it was tiny!
I made a few changes in the pink.  Originally when we moved in, the sofa and tv were set up this way, but  have been switched to opposite sides of the room since...also our very tiny kitchen has an open bar area into the living room.    Because of the shape and size of the room,  it is rather difficult to layout the furniture in any sort of way to add depth and character to the room!  I hate just having furniture along the walls!  That was one reason adding my DIY Sofa Table to the room was essential!  Even though the Table is still along the wall, it allowed me to pull the sofa out a bit and also allowed me to layer other more interesting features into the room,  like my Glam Lamp Redo!   Let me tell you even though I have yet to paint that baby, I'm in LOVE!!  I can't believe I went so long without it!

Anyway, let me show you a how the room looked before I started moving things around!

As you can see I had two Ikea Expedite Bookcase sitting on either side of my patio doors.  Like I was saying early on,  my original intention was to leave them like that and add a white media unit I found on Overstock.com, but the more I thought about it I felt it would make the room feel  too choppy!

Our nice flat screen has been sitting on this sad little table left over from our college days.  Ugh just soooo sad!
You can see in this picture I've already started turning the Expedite bookcase to create our media unit!
The next step was to take the other bookcase, which was sitting next to Karl the Sofa, turn it on its side, and bring it over to this side of the room!
( And in case your wondering, I have NO IDEA what I'm watching on tv! I've been trying to think about it since I found this picture, and I still have NO clue!! haha , usually it's something on HGTV, but who those ladies are I have no idea! )

Anywhoooo....I have yet to style the bookcases, but I'm loving the look of the two bookcases used together for our media unit!
It just makes sense in our tiny space!!

Looks like some TLC is on this time!

Cost for this living room makeover = $0!
Gotta love when you get an idea, and you already have all the pieces!
Now to get them all organized and styled!!

Waiting....

Patience, patience....
Sometimes redecorating is not always super fun, sometimes it's just plain....a downer.....
You see, I ordered my West Elm Safari rug last week, you know the one I wrote about here! I have been sooooooo anxiously waiting for this baby!   Well it practically shipped the next a day, and in just less than a week I was unwrapping it hoping to get it all set up in the living room.   I was SOOO excited!!   As I unrolled it I noticed a ton of loops sticking up all over the place, I wasn't too happy about that, but really I could just trim them and nobody would ever know!  However,  I noticed on one edge of the rug the binding
( the part holding the top and bottom of the rug together) was coming completely apart!  In fact several inches were just plain not staying together!

Ugh!
So I contacted the nice people at West Elm, they apologized and it seems they have taken care of everything.  I am to receive a return kit, get it all wrapped up, then UPS will come pick it up for me!  Once that happens they will ship out another rug for me!  Only the safari rug is currently on back order.  Sigh....I guess I will just have to have a little patience!

So here she sits until I receive that return kit and get it all wrapped up!

Well, at least I know I LOVE the rug in my space!

Girlfriends & Shoes!

Hey all!
I hope you are having a lovely start to the week!
Did you miss me last week?
I have seriously been MIA from the blog way longer than I expected, I haven't even worked on any projects this past week!!  Shocking!  I know!!  But maybe you'll forgive me when I tell you why!
Or at least I hope you will!!

You see my very best-est friend ever came in to town for a very short-short amount of time and
we had some catching up to do!!

We are, one Blonde and one Brunette!
But, she understands me like nobody else!
We DID NOT get any sleep either, too much catching up to do.
It was like being back in middle school, at a sleepover!

We definitely hit the streets hard and fast to do lots of shopping together!
She is my favorite shopping partner!
( Bonus- I think I may have found my new favorite jeans! )

Well.......
as for the rest of the week I was crazy busy at work preparing for our end of the season shoe sale!
You know there is something about women and shoes that we all go crazy about!
Myself included!

Does this saying ring true for you!?!
Well then you just may have been one of the ladies at our sale this past week.......

Possibly walking out with a pile of shoes bigger than you are!!

Well I promise to be back to my regular broadcasting soon, in fact I am headed to Lowe's to pick up some paint after I leave work today!
What have you all been up to this past week?!?!

Comment Form

Hey All!
I am trying to get back to my normal schedule after the holiday this past weekend and after taking a few days off from work to spend with a friend that was in town visiting.  So bare with me as I catch up on my much needed sleep and start back to getting some projects done!
I am writing today to ask for some feedback on a recent change I made to the comment form here on the blog.

I'm really hoping using this form will make it easier for me to respond to specific questions asked!
I  always feel bad when I'm asked a specific question and get a " no reply " when trying to respond by email to some of you!
So I am still making tweaks to the look and options of the form, so please let me know what you think or if you run into any problems using it!
Thanks!!

Cleaning Out.

With all the festivities this last weekend,
I have not had much time this week to finish some of the projects I was soooo sure would be done by now! Hehe that's so typical of me!  I did however have make time to take a load of donations over to Goodwill!
This stuff has been sitting in my living room for over a week, because I have just been too lazy to actually load it all up in my car!  But I have company spending the night tonight, and it was seriously time to get it all out!!
My super best friend, who I never see anymore; because she lives ridiculously far away now, is in town for just two days!  So forgive me as the post may be a little lite this week!  We have too much catching up to do!!
Anyway, here's some of the stuff I dropped off at Goodwill yesterday!

Here's the low down on what I got rid of:
2 lamps- one floor lamp, one desk lamp
3 towels, 3 wash cloths, 3 hand towels
1 small rug
1 small accent table
3 sparkly candle holders
2 wooden window shutters
1 large decorative window
1 frame
1 wooden wine rack
4 place mats
1 Christmas wreath
1 piece of artwork
1 basket
1 set of queen sheets
total 29 items!

Not too shabby!  All of this stuff had been in the back of my closet for the longest time!  Most of it is stuff that has been hanging around since my college days!
It's so nice to get rid of unwanted things!
I may just have to do another great clean out, and try to get rid of a 100 items!
Well, it's actually not that much more stuff, I'm already at 29 items!
Want to join me it cleaning out the clutter?!?!
You should!
Just comment letting me know what you've been cleaning out, or please share tips if you have fail proof ways on keeping out the clutter!!
I would LOVE to know those!!

A Walk on the Wild Side!

I will be walking on the wild side soon!
Because the uber-soft, ultra glam West Elm Safari Rug should be delivered to my apartment in about a week!
YAY!
Here's the little bit of wild that will be added to my living room just as soon as it arrives!

I am just too excited for words!  I have been dreaming about this ivory and platinum rug perfection forever!  Well maybe not forever, but you know what I mean, when you absolutely LOVE something!
Anyway you may remember seeing it when I posted about my Living Room Mood Board and the list of items I needed to get or DIY for the room!

I have an aversion to paying shipping when I order things online, and don't have a West Elm store near me.
So I have been patiently waiting until the next time we needed to make a trip to Ikea, as there is one somewhat near my Ikea.  Just in case your wandering the closest Ikea is three and a half hours away, so we really have to plan the whole run to Ikea out!

BUT yesterday I received an email from West Elm letting me know that all their rugs were 20% off!!!
WooHOO!!
Seriously people!  These things NEVER go on sale, and you CAN NOT find a coupon code for West Elm, it's impossible!! I mean seriously impossible, have you tried?!?
I did, and people are actually selling them on Ebay!  Yes Ebay!  I mean come on!!
Anyway.....enough of my rant!....
The Safari Rug really was a good price to begin with only $250 for a 5x8 wool rug!  I just didn't want to pay for shipping, but the 20% off more than took care of that, as well as the tax AND a little something off the top!
So sometime next week my little piggies will be walking all over this beauty!
I can't wait!!
If you've got your eye on a rug from West Elm I would grab it this weekend!  I don't know how long the sale will last!  They also have some great throw pillows on sale as well!  And I do have a coupon code for sale stuff, it's take15.  Clearly giving you 15% off sale items, but I'm not sure how long that is going to last either!  It worked yesterday for me on things in their sale section!  But nothing that was a promotion sale, like the rugs!

I hope you all are enjoying a great festive weekend!
Anyone going anyplace fabulous?!?
Or planning to scout the sales that will be happening this weekend?!?
I will be hanging out with my sister, brother-in-law, and my two favorite little nephews!
Oh and of course Josh too!
Anywhoooo!  I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!
