Pops of Pillows!

One of the the simplest ways to change the look of a room,
especially in an apartment where you are not allowed to paint,  is by popping some new throw pillows into the space!  That's why I was so excited last  last week when I found these fabulous pillows on sale from West Elm!!  I have been on the hunt for new pillows since we updated the sofa.  In case you forgot, we updated our sofa in February!   So yeah that's a really long time!!  I guess you can say I am SUPER picky!   They got here super fast, all but one that is.   The last pillow I ordered is back ordered until the end of November!  Bummer I know!    But I'm just loving how fresh and bright it all looks with the new gold pillows!    Here's how my lovely new pops of pillows look on my sofa!

I LOVE how this whole room is coming together!!  I still have about a bazzillion other things to do, but slowly  it's starting to feel like the room I was picturing when I started it's transformation back in February!
Just for the curious peep out there, you can see how the room progressed here

Oh, I have a fabulous Giveaway starting tomorrow!  So Don't forget to come back and check that out!

It was soooo a Monday.....

Do you ever have one of those days, where basically nothing goes right?!
That's exactly how my Monday started off!
Weeellll I guess everything didn't go wrong, but it was still a crummy day, however it did manage to turn out all right in the end!
So what started my day off so poorly you ask?  Well I somehow managed, and I'm not even exactly sure how I even did it,  but I sliced more than half my fingernail and a good chunk of skin off a finger with a razor!
Yup!  Gross I know!
So my morning basically started off with blood dripping down my arm while I'm running around trying to find the band aids and other supplies.  I won't go into the gruesome details, but lets just say it was not a pretty site!
On top of all that I couldn't even blow dry my hair!  Mainly because at that point my hand hurt to bad, I couldn't maneuver my blow dryer to dry my hair!  Ok, this may not sound like the worst thing in the world, but seriously how much can a girl take, I mean if my hand gets mauled I at least want my hair to look good throughout the day!
So them I'm thinking, well if I HAVE to have a bad hair day, AND my hand has been mauled,  then I at least  need to stop at Starbucks and get a little caffeine pick up!
Well lets just say, that was also a no go for that morning.  I had spent so much time looking for first aid supplies and attempting to style my hair ( which actually could have made it worse) that I was now running late for work.
I know!  How much can a girl take!
Hehe,  anyway that was my morning,  and  don't judge me for adding not being able to get a Starbucks to my
list of woes, it was really my mangled finger that ruined my morning.  It's just after that I REALLY needed a peppermint mocha to perk me up!
Well like I said it was sooooo a Monday....
However my day did get better, after work I ran over to my sister go take my nephews trick or treating!
Nothing will perk you up like two little boys all dressed up!
AND Josh had a nice big peppermint mocha waiting for me to sip while we walked around the neighborhood!
While I left my camera at home due to my crazy morning,  I did manage to snap a few photos with  my iphone!
My other nephew had already been sent upstairs to get ready for school the next day, so I only have photos of the wee one!

I wore a fabulous sparkly mask and feather boa to walk around with the nephews!

The wee one was the cutest little dinosaur!

But I'm not sure he knew what to do with me in my mask!

This is the third Halloween costume I've sewn for Josh!  And, no....I have no idea what face he is making....the man can not just smile in a photo!  Love you babe!

This was the best part of my day, I did tell you it perked up!

Isn't that just the cutest thing ever!

My day did turn around and had a wonderful end!  But you will have to forgive me if the post are a little lite the next few days.  My bandaged finger has made typing near impossible, just this post has taken several hours to type!

So I hope you all had a better start to your week, and a fun and festive Halloween!
Did you stay in a hand out candy, or take some little ones out to enjoy the fun?!
I want to hear all about your Halloween adventures!

Happy Halloween!
I hope everyone had something fun to do this weekend, or at least something fun to do tonight!
I spent the weekend sewing the rest of Josh's costume so he can dress up as we take our nephews trick or treating tonight!

West Elm Pillows

One of the quickest ways to give a living room a fresh new look, is as simple as swapping out the sofa pillows.   Since we updated the living room this past year with a brand new white sofa, I have been on the hunt for some fabulous pillows to liven things up a bit!

This picture was taken right after we made the switch from the old sofa to our new friend Karl.
While I like the pillows on the sofa they really were never intended to stay there.  I originally bought the black and white pillows from Pottery Barn for a bench in my bedroom.   However,  when we bought the sofa  I just felt with all the white in the room it needed just a little something!  Just because I don't think I've ever mentioned it before, our current apartment does not allow us to paint!  Yikes!  I know, isn't that awful!  Mainly because I love the look of dark wall with all white furniture!  That's my dream, gorgeously painted walls, dark wood floor and white furniture! Ah well, a girl can dream can't she?!   Anyway, just thought I'd share one of the reasons I needed to get more color in the room!
Anywhoooo, now that I've gotten off topic a little bit, I have been meaning to swap out the pillows for the longest time.

The black and white pillows haven't been completely on there own, you can tell in the above photo,  I've added a few new navy a turquoise pillows to brighten everything up.
Are you wondering where this is all going?!?  Well I popped on over to West Elm's website yesterday and found out they were having a pillow sale! Yay!
I think I found the perfect pillows to finally replace the black and white ones!

Here's what I ordered!

I think both of these are going to look perfect with my navy and turquoise pillows I already have!

I am thinking about getting one last pillow to tie it all together!

I love adding different metallic's to my living spaces,  I guess you can say I have a thing for shiny things!
So what do you all think,  should I go for the last pillow to finish the look, or is that silvery grey just not your thing?!

Getting ready for Christmas!

Yup, I am one of those insanely
annoying people who look forward to Christmas WAY, WAY  earlier than most people.  I mean, I get giddy when I see Christmas stuff out in the stores in August,  I just can't help myself!   I even start listening to Christmas music in September, well that's not exactly true.....I sometimes pop in Christmas music during the summer months too!

So I was pleasantly surprised this week, when I found one of my all time favorite projects, which also just happens to be a Christmas project,  listed on Everything Etsy's 101 handmade Holiday tutorials!
My Glam Holiday Wreath is number sixty one on the list of some very fabulous Christmas projects!

Go Check it out!   There are a ton of other projects that look really fun as well!
I can't wait to start working on some!

Are any of you like me, and just can't wait for the Holiday Season to start?  Or do you think it's crazy to start buy Christmas decorations in September?  And yes I HAVE already started buying ornaments, and I've even started sprinkling a few of the sparkly items around the apartment! I just don't think it's ever to early to add a little  Christmas sparkle to a room!
What do you all think?

Some place to store the booze.

Recently I've totally been head over heals in love with the idea of a glamorous ( throwback to the sixties) bar cart!

Check out a few of these gorgeous ways to store your boozes!

This one looks so pretty with all the Christmas decor!

So it's been decided one of my next home purchases has to a fabulous bar cart!
Now I just have to find one in my budget....

What do you all think, do you like your liquor out in the open?  Or hidden behind the closed doors of a cabinet?

New Living Room Artwork!

One of my favorite aspects of the living room so far has been the wall above the sofa showcasing artwork I've completed over the years!  Do you remember when I showed you all that here?
Well just in case you don't remember what it looked like, here's a little snippet of the art....

Well I decided the wall needed a little color and the black and white photograph I took in Hawaii just wasn't giving me that pop!  So it was time to take that down, pack it up and save it for another day.

So out came a piece of art I finished just the other day, one which I happen to think works perfect with all my other pieces on the gallery wall!

I love how the gold in the art plays off my gold leafed lamps!
It's like the whole wall has come alive, I just love it!

What do you all think?  Do you like the moodiness of the black and white photo, or the drama and liveliness of the gold artwork?!
