So this past weekend I threw a baby shower for one of my sisters. One of the desserts I made was a whole bunch of cupcakes.... I used a box mix, however I wanted to give the mix a little upgrade, did you know that you could upgrade a box mix? Well it's super easy, just substitute butter for the oil, and you can also add any sort of extract you want, almond, vanilla, or even orange!
Anyway here is a little glimpse of them while they were being decorated... and.....yup I even decorate cupcakes on my coffee table....
They were so much fun to decorate, and such a hit at the party!
I could go for a cupcake right now...yum!

You can also substitute applesauce for the oil. Healthier and tastes great!
ReplyDeleteFab job! I love all the colours!

It's funny, but at showers people don't seem to eat cake when it's in a standard sheet cake form, but they love cupcakes and gobble them up. I think it's the portability of them. Yours look so cute, the sprinkles just say "baby shower". Great suggestions for upgrading the taste. (BTW, I always think box mixes taste better than when I make cake from scratch.)Hope the shower was a success.
ReplyDeleteYum! Your photos are awesome! They could be in a magazine!
ReplyDeleteyou are killing me! i can't wait to be off my diet, did you use a pastry bag to make it swirly on top?
