Oops....I ran out of supplies again!

Hello everyone!
I hope you all had a fantastic Holiday weekend!
I had a bit of a crazy week myself last week.  After multitasking to the point I forgot about the sweaters I was hand washing in the bathroom,  letting the water over flow the sink, which in consequence flooded the floor with several inches of water.  I decided it was time to take a break.  I couldn't very well take time off from work, as you know in retail this is kinda the busiest time of the year!  Sooooo I took a little break from projects, to just relax, and spend time with Josh and the family.
I must say it was very nice to just chill!
But, I couldn't stay away long and I am now ready to get back to my many projects!
One I have been working on today......and I am very excited about it!  I will only show you a little peak because I ran out of supplies and didn't finish it.  I have made TWO trips to TWO different Michael's Craft Stores today!  I still ran out!  Oops!
Here's what I'm working on!

I can't wait to show you finished pictures of this!

I'm taking a moment to enjoy a some quite with Josh this morning, while sipping some delicious Earl Grey tea.   Then I'm off to start cooking brunch, before some family comes over; then we are off to have dinner at Josh's folks house later today!
I just LOVE this time of year!

DIY Anthropologie Inspired Ornament!

Well I can't believe the weekend is coming to an end, for some reason it always seems to go by in the blink of an eye.  It was our Holiday Event at the store this Saturday, so I have not been on the blog  much this past week,  as I have come home and crashed after getting ready for it all week!
Can you believe Thanksgiving is THIS week!  I can't!
I am so not with it this year!  I'm sure though, that Josh is glad I didn't pull out the Christmas music and decor at the end of September this year!
I'm so ready....NOW..... to get my place all set up for Christmas!  I have put out a few things here and there, but I haven't pulled any of my boxes down from storage yet.  That will be my task this week!
I HaVe made a few NEW decorations so far this year though!

If you don't know me, one thing you should know is that I LOVE Anthropologie!  I could..... and I have gotten lost in there home stuff for hours!  I always find something I can't live without!  So when I was browsing there Christmas decor online the other day I came across this ornament.  Now it's one thing to spend money on something I know I will love forever.   However,  I am kinda a klutzy person, and fragile things never seem to make it very long around me....or Josh....maybe its something in our water.....  So I didn't really want to spend almost $30 for this glass Ornament.  So what's a DIY girl to do!?
Well I just had to see if I could make one myself!  The only items I didn't have were the glass ornaments, which I bought at Michaels; I bought a set of four, for around $5.
So my DIY Anthropologie Ornament rang in at only $1.25!
Not bad!

This is what I started with! Oh, and don't forget the hot coco when making Christmas decor!
It's very important!  I was drinking mine out of our cute Anthropologie Initial Mug.

After a few layers of paint!

Next came the Krylon Glue!
I love this shade of glitter, it's white gold, by Martha Stewart!

I think my version came out pretty cute!

*Update*  I entered this ornament in BHG's Homemade Christmas Ornament Contest!

Getting into the Holiday Spirit!

I'm not sure what was wrong with me, but I feel as if it took me forever to GET in the Christmas mood!
I know, I know its still only November, but thats REALLY late for me!
Needless to say I think I'm finally getting in into the Holiday spirit!
So last night I started making this DIY felt Christmas Wreath.
First you cut out a bazillion felt circles, then just scrunch and glue!  It's really as easy as that!
I ended up using a few different glues on this, a glue gun I found out worked the best.  I ran out of glue sticks about half way through, and ended up using fabric glue on the rest of it. I  Would NOT recommend this,  as it produced a really nasty smell when applied to the foam, and also started eating into the foam ring!

I bought about 13 sheets of felt, at only .29 cents a pop, this was a very inexpensive Christmas wreath!

About half way through last night!

I just hung it on a bedroom mirror to take a few photos, but I'm thinking it will reside on the front door once I find some pretty ribbon to hang it up with!

How are you guys getting into the Holiday Spirit, or is it way to early for you?

DIY Bedroom Drapes messy room and all!

I was determined to show you all my lovely new DIY bedroom drapes, even if I didn't have time to tidy my room before hand!
So here's a few shot of my bedroom, messy bed and all!

I'll be adding some more yellows to the room, and switching a few things up.  This was just the beginning of a new little color change!  I'll be taking some better picture soon!

Design Inspiration!

Today I started out thinking that I would get some Christmas shopping done, then I realized that the shopping I have already done really doesn't have a home at the moment.  So.... I started cleaning and organizing and now it's about nine in the evening!   My day has really gotten away from me without getting a whole lotta projects finished!

I did managed to find some drapery hardware I liked for my DIY bedroom drapes!  I am excited about that, I had to also rearrange the drill holes for the curtain rod, as I wanted these new drapes to be hung a bit higher for a more dramatic effect.  I still have to hem the panels, but this way I can see exactly how much I need to take them up.  I will have to wait till the morning to snap some pictures, as we do  not have any bright lights in the bedroom!
I will post pictures soon!
I was looking for some design inspiration today and came across designer Amanda Nesbet.
Check out her gorgeous rooms!

Love it!

Inspired by Young House Love

Hope everyone has had a wonderful and relaxing weekend!
I can't believe it is almost over, it always seems to go by too quickly!  I started a little project, well its actually a big project, this weekend that was inspired by Young House Love, but before I tell  you what it is, I thought I would share with you some pictures of our relaxing weekend.

This is my favorite photo of the weekend!
Saturday night we headed to my sister's to hang out, her husband is currently stationed in Saudi Arabia, and she was CrAvInG ( she is seven months pregnant ) Thanksgiving food!  She cooked us this HUGE dinner, she loves to cook and I was happy to oblige!  We had pretty much the whole deal, mashed potatoes, stuffing,  green beans, chicken  instead of turkey but just as delicious, as well as buttery crescent rolls!  I don't think I've eaten so much since last Thanksgiving!  I couldn't move I was so stuffed!
The above photo I snapped with my Iphone while we were all just hanging out watching a movie after dinner. My nephew, just needed some guy time and really loved just hanging out with Josh while we were over!
It made my heart melt!

Another Iphone picture, sorry about the quality, but he really wanted a picture of us!

This one I snapped today, Josh and I celebrated our four year anniversary this weekend.  He always does so much for me that we bought him his big tv this weekend!  He was very excited!
He did surprise me with flowers, wine, and a wonderful made by him spaghetti dinner!
I couldn't have asked for more!

Thats just a little snap shot into my life at the moment, now onto my Young House Love inspired Project!
Just to warn you this is not a crafty, or room makeover inspiration, but one that is very necessary to  have a beautiful  home.  A few days ago they posted about getting rid of things before they move into their new home, you can read about that here.
That got me thinking about all the things I have been meaning to go through forever!  I keep telling myself I will get to it, and time keeps going by and it's all still here!  So my goal is to get rid of 100 things before Christmas!  Yup 100 things!  Either donate, craigslist, trash, or consign!
So far I've thrown away 12 scratched cds/dvds, cleared out an unused bookshelf, gone through a container of old oil paints ( discovered some watercolors in great condition ) trashed the beaten up old container with and all old supplies, and put an ad on craigslist for a tv we no longer need.  I have also decided to craigslist our couch and loveseat, we have been talking about getting a new one for ages, ours is a hand-me-down set that we have been using for the last few years!  I'll be doing that sometime this week!  Just need to get some pictures of them and hopefully we will be able to move them onto the craigslist, list!
So there you have it, The Great Clean-out  has begun, and I've already finished over a tenth of my goal!  We are also both HUGE readers so thats is my next task, donating our used books, at least the ones we will never reread.

What did you all do this weekend?  Anything exciting?  Any projects that you all are working on?

DIY Bedroom Drapes!

I have been sewing feverishly this week to finish my bedroom drapes, and I am almost completely done with them! I really need to get serious and find some hardware for these beauties.
I had every intention of looking for drapery rings after I left work this evening, but I had a little problem.
These babies.....

They are nearly five inch heals and I wore them for almost 10 hours today!
Towards the end of the day I thought my toes might fall off....haha...not sure why I'm laughing...it might be the pain talking......I just couldn't bring myself to go shopping after a day like that!
What we suffer for fashion!
They are made by designer Claudia Cuiti { made in Italy } and cost a fortune, and I do mean a fortune!
Were talking the price of a sofa!
So of course I had to wear them all day!
A girl's gotta get her money's worth!

Anyway I'm thinking I want to find some bamboo drapery rings, kinda like this, but white.

I don't mind spray painting them, but I wanted to see if I could find some locally before I ordered some online.  Thats what I was planning on looking for after work tonight and those lovely shoes got in the way!

So here are a few pictures of my lovely new drapes I'm almost finishes with, all I have left is to hem them.
I don't have a ton of experience in sewing, more so then most people I guess.  I took a theater class, costume design,  in college and learned how to create custom patterns to fit the clothing that was needed for each play.  While I did learn to use a sewing machine in that class, the majority of the items we made were hand sewn, so I am by no means an expert at using a sewing machine.  But I have enough knowledge to create what I want, and  I am so glad I ending up taking that class!
I did a little research online and found that Isabella & Max has a great tutorial on how to make lined drapery panels!  So I used her tutorial as a guide, and went from there.

I can't wait to find some drapery rings I like, I'm exited to see them in my bedroom!
I'm also thinking I might make a roman shade to go underneath these, but I'm still trying to figure it all out!
I'll give you a break down of everything later....price...and really how I put the whole thing together when I have some more time!
