Glamorous Holiday Wreath!!!

I finally finished my DIY Glamorous Holiday Wreath!  It took me a few days, and several trips to every craft store in the area, but I did it!  I also managed to wipe out every  little square mirror in three cities!  Well it was definitely worth it, and will be a new favorite wreath for years to come!

Here's how she went together!

I bought a 16" styrofoam wreath at Michael's, and laid out all my little mirrors first so I could make sure that the placement on the ring would work.  I initially was only going to mirror the top and had plenty of little mirrors for that, but I decided to keep going, and thats when I ran into a problem finding more mirrors!

I then used a mosaic glue to hold them down.....that had to dry for 5-7 hours before I grouted the ring!  Long wait time!

Here she is just about done, what you can't see is that I ran out of my smaller mirrors on the other side!
This was all after searching for them in three stores!  I didn't know each store was only going to carry two or three packs of the things!  But I made one more trip, found some mirrors, finished up the grout, and here is the finished piece!

I LOVE how it turned out!!  I can't wait to get our tree this weekend and see it surrounded by all the Christmas stuff!  We only put up a real tree and I wanted to wait an extra week to get it this year as it is usually just about dead by Christmas, when I get in Thanksgiving weekend.  So next weekend will be a BIG decorating time for me!  I can't wait!  I've pulled down all my Christmas boxes, and have put a few things out, but really the tree is what usually starts me every year, so I like to wait for that!  I will post pictures of the goodies when I get them all up and out, and of the finally home for my new wreath!  I'm thinking it will look gorgeous under a swag of greenery!

How about you guys, are you all ready for Christmas, or are you like me, just getting started?

Oops....I ran out of supplies again!

Hello everyone!
I hope you all had a fantastic Holiday weekend!
I had a bit of a crazy week myself last week.  After multitasking to the point I forgot about the sweaters I was hand washing in the bathroom,  letting the water over flow the sink, which in consequence flooded the floor with several inches of water.  I decided it was time to take a break.  I couldn't very well take time off from work, as you know in retail this is kinda the busiest time of the year!  Sooooo I took a little break from projects, to just relax, and spend time with Josh and the family.
I must say it was very nice to just chill!
But, I couldn't stay away long and I am now ready to get back to my many projects!
One I have been working on today......and I am very excited about it!  I will only show you a little peak because I ran out of supplies and didn't finish it.  I have made TWO trips to TWO different Michael's Craft Stores today!  I still ran out!  Oops!
Here's what I'm working on!

I can't wait to show you finished pictures of this!

I'm taking a moment to enjoy a some quite with Josh this morning, while sipping some delicious Earl Grey tea.   Then I'm off to start cooking brunch, before some family comes over; then we are off to have dinner at Josh's folks house later today!

DIY Anthropologie Inspired Ornament!

Well I can't believe the weekend is coming to an end, for some reason it always seems to go by in the blink of an eye.  It was our Holiday Event at the store this Saturday, so I have not been on the blog  much this past week,  as I have come home and crashed after getting ready for it all week!
Can you believe Thanksgiving is THIS week!  I can't!
I am so not with it this year!  I'm sure though, that Josh is glad I didn't pull out the Christmas music and decor at the end of September this year!
I'm so ready....NOW..... to get my place all set up for Christmas!  I have put out a few things here and there, but I haven't pulled any of my boxes down from storage yet.  That will be my task this week!
I HaVe made a few NEW decorations so far this year though!

If you don't know me, one thing you should know is that I LOVE Anthropologie!  I could..... and I have gotten lost in there home stuff for hours!  I always find something I can't live without!  So when I was browsing there Christmas decor online the other day I came across this ornament.  Now it's one thing to spend money on something I know I will love forever.   However,  I am kinda a klutzy person, and fragile things never seem to make it very long around me....or Josh....maybe its something in our water.....  So I didn't really want to spend almost $30 for this glass Ornament.  So what's a DIY girl to do!?
Well I just had to see if I could make one myself!  The only items I didn't have were the glass ornaments, which I bought at Michaels; I bought a set of four, for around $5.
So my DIY Anthropologie Ornament rang in at only $1.25!
Not bad!

This is what I started with! Oh, and don't forget the hot coco when making Christmas decor!
It's very important!  I was drinking mine out of our cute Anthropologie Initial Mug.

After a few layers of paint!

Next came the Krylon Glue!
I love this shade of glitter, it's white gold, by Martha Stewart!

I think my version came out pretty cute!

*Update*  I entered this ornament in BHG's Homemade Christmas Ornament Contest!

Getting into the Holiday Spirit!

I'm not sure what was wrong with me, but I feel as if it took me forever to GET in the Christmas mood!
I know, I know its still only November, but thats REALLY late for me!
Needless to say I think I'm finally getting in into the Holiday spirit!
So last night I started making this DIY felt Christmas Wreath.
First you cut out a bazillion felt circles, then just scrunch and glue!  It's really as easy as that!
I ended up using a few different glues on this, a glue gun I found out worked the best.  I ran out of glue sticks about half way through, and ended up using fabric glue on the rest of it. I  Would NOT recommend this,  as it produced a really nasty smell when applied to the foam, and also started eating into the foam ring!

I bought about 13 sheets of felt, at only .29 cents a pop, this was a very inexpensive Christmas wreath!

About half way through last night!

I just hung it on a bedroom mirror to take a few photos, but I'm thinking it will reside on the front door once I find some pretty ribbon to hang it up with!

How are you guys getting into the Holiday Spirit, or is it way to early for you?

DIY Bedroom Drapes messy room and all!

I was determined to show you all my lovely new DIY bedroom drapes, even if I didn't have time to tidy my room before hand!
So here's a few shot of my bedroom, messy bed and all!

I'll be adding some more yellows to the room, and switching a few things up.  This was just the beginning of a new little color change!  I'll be taking some better picture soon!

Design Inspiration!

Today I started out thinking that I would get some Christmas shopping done, then I realized that the shopping I have already done really doesn't have a home at the moment.  So.... I started cleaning and organizing and now it's about nine in the evening!   My day has really gotten away from me without getting a whole lotta projects finished!

I did managed to find some drapery hardware I liked for my DIY bedroom drapes!  I am excited about that, I had to also rearrange the drill holes for the curtain rod, as I wanted these new drapes to be hung a bit higher for a more dramatic effect.  I still have to hem the panels, but this way I can see exactly how much I need to take them up.  I will have to wait till the morning to snap some pictures, as we do  not have any bright lights in the bedroom!
I will post pictures soon!
I was looking for some design inspiration today and came across designer Amanda Nesbet.
Check out her gorgeous rooms!

Love it!
