Vintage Bathing Beauty

I finished another vintage inspired watercolor for my photo wall in my living room....woohoo!

It's slowly coming together, but I think I'm running out of frames!  I seem to always be buying them and never seem to have enough!  Wish Ikea wasn't so far away!

Anyway here's the latest....

Spring Buds!

Hello everyone!  Hope you all are enjoying a fun and relaxing weekend!  It is definitely starting to feel like spring around here, the cherry trees are flowering, all the trees have buds on them, and the first spring flowers are flowering!

Love it!

Since the weather has been so lovely I decided to head to my local garden store, Anderson's yesterday to pick up a few early flowers and some potting mix to beef up the mix already in my containers.  We only have room for a container garden, and I do not have the greenest thumb, but I try every year!  My herbs always seem to do well, but I have yet to get my tomato plants to produce more than a few plump pieces of fruit!   

I picked up a few great early spring flowers and since today was such a gorgeous day I pulled out the gardening gloves and got a few of them in their pots!

Coral and Turquoise Inspiration!

So I am still working on my living room redo, and since

 I am working on a budget of almost $0, it is going to take sometime!   It's definitely going to be a work in-progress for a little while, but you all will get to see the changes as I am making them.  I have been super happy with the updates that have happened so far, like all of my DIY artwork and the introduction of Karl the Sofa. 

 You guys have no idea how happy my new sofa makes me!  My old one was a hand-me-down, which I was more than happy to use for a few years while I pay off my college loans.   Now it was not my favorite color, but was in good condition as it had never really been used by it's old owners. Their dogs however would lay on them.......now I LOVE dogs, in fact I really, really, REALLY want to get a puppy!  But I am also SUPER allergic to dogs and cats!  This last year I actually started breaking out in hives when I sat on my old sofa, now I vacuumed and steamed cleaned it numerous times and NOTHING help!  

 I actually just thought that if my allergies were ALREADY bothering me, that sitting on my old sofa would just make it worse, I mean who's actually allergic to a sofa?  But it turns out that my old sofa may have actually been the CAUSE of my allergies!  I have not had to take allergy medicine since I bid farewell to the old thing!  So not only do I get to redecorate a new room, I also don't have to deal with allergies all year round!!!!

 ( insert ecstatically huge, happy smile here)

Now I will try to rummage up some old photos of my living room so you can see the before and afters, you will have a much better idea of what I was working with.

But in the mean time I wanted to share with you some inspirations photos for the new look!

Artwork for the Living Room!

Has February really come and gone? 

I just can't believe it!  This month has flown by, especially the last few weeks with the arrival of my newhew! Isn't he a cutie!

Anyway,  I know it has been quite a while since I have done a real blog post, but I have been working on a few things for the living room that I wanted to share with you.   Mainly some artwork to go with my DIY Kate Spade Ampersand!  

I've been wanting to create a wall of framed images to go above my new sofa, but I can never seem to find prints or paintings that I like!   I guess I'm just too picky for my own good!  

Well, I was looking for some inspiration and came across a few old ( I'm thinking 1950's or 60's) Vogue images, which was exactly the look and feel of what I was trying to find!  Most of the ones I really liked I could not find prints of, sooooooo what's a DIY gal to do but make her own!

So this past week I pulled out my watercolors and got to work!

Here's the first image I finished!

It fits perfectly in my Ikea frames!

For now it will sit next to my DIY Kate Spade Ampersand on top of a bookcase, until I get a few more things finished.   I am so loving it next to my Kate Spade Ampersand, and can't wait to see how it will all come together and up on the wall!
