I wish.....

So this is a post about wishes and goals, and how I wish to be able to complete some of my goals!
So I have been feeling terribly guilty this month about the lack of post and DIY,  I just can't seem to get caught up on things that I WANT to do and accomplish!  I'm really not sure how you ladies who work full time AND have a family seem to get it all done!
I've been working over time, and still have one more week to go, so I'll have more time when thats done!  We have also been super busy worrying about Josh's gram, she has been in the ICU for a while and has finally been moved out of the hospital, hopefully for good!
I am an artist so I get down when I can't create, I'm so ready to get back to it all!
So, I've decided that I need to make another New Years resolution, and that is to TAKE some time for me, whatever that may be, whatever I feel inspired to do at the moment.
I am so excited, we are going to Ikea next weekend and I am hoping to get a new sofa and shelves and stuff! I need a room refresher!
I love the look of this sofa that Audrey Hepburn is lounging on, I love that low and sleek look!

I'm hoping to be lounging on my new sofa sometime after next weekend!

Do you guys ever find yourself getting behind on your creative stuff?
Let me know what you are OR are not getting accomplished!  Maybe we can motivated each other!

  1. Ashley...its just one of those things that we women seem to sacrifice alot of...and that is time for ourselves.
I know when I am not creating or being creative I can feel very agitated and out of sorts. Its important that we take time to do things that feed the soul and keep us balanced..and really..thats what it is all about lovely...finding balance...but not putting your needs at the end of the list. Hope you find more time for yourself this year lovely...and are filled with artistic inspiration. Big Hugs x

  2. That is my life story!! I stay up at night thinking about all the projects I need to do, then when I get time I'm just too tired to get them done!! I've finally learned that I can't do it all, so I just do what I can, when I can!! Hope you get some more time to yourself soon! Can't wait to see your couch!

  3. It looks like you have allot of things going on in your life at the moment (I hope gram is okay) an Ikea shopping day sounds like just the thing to replenish the batteries (although a little stressful if you Ikea is anything like ours here in Sydney.
I have also been a little stressed from not having any free time. I have had a few days when I have said to the hubby "do you mind if I have a me day" he is always obliging. I found it very liberating and relaxing eating lunch with a glass of wine all by myself.
It is good to replenish your batteries, especially when you are the type of person who is always doing things for other people. The arts, crafts and DIY will come when you are relaxed and don’t have so much going on (hats of to the mothers who can do it all..)

  6. Oh, I hear you. Just keep that ol' list and chip away at it when you can. But, if there's anything you really want to get done, why not post about it, give it a timeline, and we'll all help to keep you motivated?

  7. I totally know how you feel. I absolutely feel like I wear too many hats sometimes and I don't even have any kids. I don't know how the ladies with kiddos do it. It blows my mind. I think you're doing a great job. And we love to see your DIY's but also, understand that not everyone can DIY all day everyday. :) Keep up the great work girlie!!

  9. When I get overwhelmed with my schedule or my kids' schedule I've found it helps to MAKE time for me and what I need/want to get done. I even write it in my planner sometimes! If/when I start to feel guilty about taking time for myself I always think back to the oxygen masks in an airplane scenario- you always put the mask on yourself before helping someone else because what good are you to others if you've passed out? Get where I'm going with that? LOL

  10. Ashley,
I totally feel you and I am so glad you posted about this. I think the month of January has been really hard for a lot of people. It is so important to make time for yourself and I hope you do set aside some you time. I have had a few projects that I have wanted to get done for weeks now and I have not even started.

  11. Life is messy, there's never enought time to do it all. I've been learning to be very patient about the time it takes to get my projects done. I've got a list a mile long, drapes, pillows, chairs...and that's just the beginning. I'm starting to realize that I just need to get started on a project and take my time to finish it instead of not start at all.

  12. Finally, someone else who feels "Oh no! I didn't get enough done!" I feel that my projects are so small they should be done in a day.

It's important to remember that we all have our own speed. I'm wishing you the best in your quest to pickup your motivation when the time is right for you!

  13. I love reading your blog and I feel like I am creative with decorating and design but not that handy. It is a little intimidating. But yesterday I took apart a cork bulletin board and covered it with expensive remnant fabric that I love and put the frame back on...it looks so custom. Not up to your level ...but this little project boosted my confidence and got the energy flowing.

  15. If I had put half the effort into my creative projects as I did into complaining about how horrid January was, I would be the next Martha Stewart. Le sigh.

Don't get too down on yourself honey, it's freakishly cold and you sound like you got a lot on your plate. My personal policy is that cruising design blogs totally counts as productive creative time. Good luck, sending happy thoughts to Josh's gram!
