A little Art.

This week has been a super crazy one for me, and I have not been able to get to any more of the projects on my list besides the bench redo!  Working overtime can have that effect!
I did finish some custom art work for a client though!
Want to see it?
The client is having the art printed on some invitations!

Please do not copy or distribute this image without my permission, thank you!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Super Chic Cheap Finds!

Do you know what I saw last night!
I saw something that made me so giddy, that I have no need for, that I can't stop thinking about, that made me gasp in DELIGHT,  which Josh mistook as my gasp that something was wrong, and after explaining to him what I found I got the look, you know... the one that says I love you but you gasp in delight at the strangest things!

Well just LOOK at what I found and see if you gasp in delight too!
Dwell Fabric on Fabric.com !!
Yes DWELL FABRIC about 50% off the regular price!
pssssttt.....google fabric.com coupon codes for an extra little discount!
Do I hear gasps of delight?!?!

Look at some of the choices!

Oh the joy of such gorgeous fabric!
I don't have a need for any of it but I just couldn't resist!
 I had to have some!
Can ONE have a fabric problem?
What do you all think?
Are any of you going to be like me and buy it cause its such a fantastic price and THEN find something to make?

Finally a finished furniture redo!

I feel as if this makeover has taken me forever to finish! I kept changing my mind as to what I wanted to do with it, lets call it decorating ADD!  I really love so many different looks that I kept changing my mind!  Do you all ever get that way?
This is actually the second makeover for this little guy, and I am so pleased with how it turned out!!
Just a little recap,  I bought this table at a thrift store for $9.99, with every intention of turning the piece into a bench for a little nook under the window in my bedroom.

After its first little makeover it looked like this

It lived like this for about a year or so.  I really did love it like this but I've been wanting to do something new in my bedroom and the color of this would have fought to much with the drapes I'm making for the room.  So it had to go!  I've always been a paint- the- furniture- white kinda girl and to an extent I still am, but living in am apartment right now that does NOT allow paint on the walls can look a little blah with all white furniture!  So that was why I went with such a vibrant yellow!
I started thinking about refinishing this project again when I found a gorgeous yellow and white fabric for drapes in my bedroom, and since this is going to be placed right next to my new drapes the color definitely needed to be taken down a notch!

As I didn't need to sand or prime this piece it was much easier to get started on than the last time I refinished it!!  I'm not sure if I mentioned it or not but this was originally a coffee table that  had two inlaid wood squares in the center of it.   That is what I cut out and then put batting and fabric on to give it a nice upholstered finished look.
Anyway back to the painting I decided to use  Benjamin Moore paint with a pearl luster in graphite.  Its pretty much a soft shade of black...if I can call black a soft shade..
Here's some pictures of me painting the piece!
Sorry the quality is not the best, I took them on my iphone....it was the closest thing I had, and I couldn't find my camera !

Can you see the chevron fabric in the top right corner?  I've got something planned for that!  Hopefully it will work out!  But I'll share with you all one way or the other! Cross your fingers for me!

After painting all day I then had to undo the upholstery, and as you can see by use of the butter knife it was very professional!

Tiny little staples went everywhere....but don't worry about my little toes....I think I got all of them off the floor......I think.....

Next I measured and cut my fabric

Sorry I couldn't get any pictures of me actually stapling the fabric on, I was the only one home at the time and it was too hard to staple and take a picture!

But if you have never done this before, it super easy just lay your wood on top of your fabric, print side down.   Then take the very center of one side and staple, then go to the opposite side and staple the center again.  Your remaining two side are the same, pull the fabric taut and staple in the center.  Once the center of every side is done,  I then like to staple in between the center staple ( of whichever side you want) and the corner again trying to staple in the center of those two things.  I pretty much do that all the way around flipping to the opposite  of the wood.  I apologize if this is confusing...but its kinda hard to explain.  But by flipping to opposite sides of the wood you ensure that no one side is pulled to tight, making you fabric lopsided.  This is especially important if you are working with a pattern!
But if you just keep in mind that one thing, and keep flipping you will be fine!

Here she is with her new fabric!
The paint was still kinda tacky so I only set the upholstered squares on top!

And here she is under the window in my bedroom!

And here she is a few days later with a few pillows on her!

I still have not completely pushed my upholstered squares into the wood where they should be.  I really want  the paint to cure for a week or so before I do that!

I love how it came out!
It was so worth all my indecision with what to do with it!
Now lets see if I can get those new drapes finished!

I've got a little giveaway going on.....enter here!

Sneak Peak!

I finished my bench makeover!
Finished the painting!
Finished the reupholstery!
But......I ran out of daylight, so I really couldn't get any good light to take pictures....
I did manage to snap a little corner of it before I moved it back into my bedroom.....want to see?

I LOVE the fabric!
I can't wait to see what it's all going to look like when I finish my new bedroom curtains, did I mention that I was making new bedroom curtains?  Well I am!  But I need more hours in the day to get it all done!

Anyway we'll see what I can get accomplished tomorrow!

Redo Update!

So a little while ago I posted about this bench.  Well I finally found some time to paint the beauty!  I'm currently waiting for the first coat of paint to dry.  I choose a gorgeous Benjamin Moore  paint in Graphite, its kinda exciting seeing it all  come together I think its going to look great with my fabric!  So excited.
Anyway here are some of my  in progress pictures!

As you can see I'm painting inside today, it wasn't suppose to still be raining, but whatcha gonna do?

Taking breaks from painting I'm still trying to finish up Josh's Halloween Costume!

Maybe I'll get it all done today!
we'll see!

Happy Browsing!

Chic Hotel Haunting.

Today has been one filled with fabric and sewing!
Haha just not sewing one of my many projects!
Instead I am finishing up Josh's Halloween costume.  Sigh....I will get to my things soon!
I did buy a few things, paint and such for my projects.  I will share that with you all later on.

With all the getting ready for Halloween that is going on around here, I thought I would share a
 Gorgeously Chic .....Haunted.......Hotel.

Marilyn Monroe lived here for a while and SHE is said to HAUNTE
the place!!  So Spoooookkkyyyy!   ......insert  scary voice here........  There is a certain mirror on the lower floor of the hotel that guests say the shadowy image of Marilyn appears to the unsuspecting.

Though I'm not sure how spooky this Hollywood Icon would ever seem.

If you ever want to visit the hotel you can stay in the wonderfully chic Marilyn Monroe suite!

Just Gorgeous!
Has anyone out there ever seen a Ghost, or stayed at a wonderfully chic hotel hoping to see one?

a whole lotta everything.....

I don't know about you guys, but for me it never seems like there is enough time in the day to get everything done that I want to!  I feel as if everything I'm working on is in an eternal state of in progress!  Just is case you were wondering I have a day job.  I am the manager of a very cute designer shoe boutique.  While I LOVE the job it is not something I want to do indefinitely, which is one of the reasons I started this blog.
I am an artist / designer at heart!
I started reading design and DIY blogs about a year ago and I just couldn't seem to get enough of them!  There are so many talented ladies out there!  I always feel inspired and motivated after I do the rounds of the blogs on my reading list.

One of the artsy things I do is create custom artwork, some of the ones I was going to share today were designs I did for invitations to boutique events!

This one was always one of my favorites!

please excuse the poor images I took them with my phone and edited out the text that was added

I've done custom work for stores as well as individuals and have so much fun doing this kinda stuff!  I just recently did the custom artwork for a VIP event to the Port Warwick Art Festival!  If you want to read about the Festival you can do that here!  I'm also currently  working on another  design for an upcoming event!

So I recently shared with you all this image of several fabrics I had ordered.

Were you wondering what I had done with some of the fabrics?  Well I'm finally going to share with you one of the things I finished recently.

I love this black an white trellis fabric!

I made the cording out of some left over silk I had from this Ottoman.   The rope for the cording I had left over from earlier this spring when I taught  myself how to make a custom slipcover for my couch!  I may share that with you all later on!  Anyway I loved the shade of green twill I did for the back side.  It's perfect for my bedroom.  Just to let you know, I was going to take pictures of this pillow where it normally resides on my bed, BUT my bedroom is a FLYING MESS!  I wasn't sure you all wanted to see that.  I reference what I said above about there not being enough hours in the day to get everything done.  Some days it's either tidy up or projects.  And I would MUCH rather work on projects!!!

I did receive the rest of my fabric today!  I really am excited about it!

I'm really hoping to get to these projects this weekend!
So don't forget to follow me to keep up to date with it all!
